Through their personal farming operations, the Rockefeller family experienced the financial and health benefits of raising quality food in quantities sufficient to supply their family and to offset the cost of production. Their humanitarian concerns about hunger, health, and underlying poverty led to the establishment of agricultural programs in the United States through the General Education Board (GEB) and worldwide through the Rockefeller Foundation (RF).
